I'm aware there is debate surrounding whether there were any Christians living in Pompeii at the time. Has the study of Pompeii created any new knowledge about the history of the early church?
During the restoration of Pompeii, there were multiple religious artifacts uncovered in the debris that suggested they worshipped other cultural gods, since Pompeii was a city of import and trade. It would not be surprising if Christianity was one of those religions acknowledged during Pompeii's time before the eruption took place.
