Is the historicity of Jesus disputed within modern historians?

If not, how are we sure if he existed?

There are quite a lot of past answers on this subject. In particular, /u/talondearg gives a good overview of the evidence here and /u/jasoncaspian gives a good discussion of some of the reasons that historians agree that a historical Jesus stands behind this evidence here. Finally, there is a lot of discussion of the issue in this recent thread. And, since it's come up in this thread, no, we don't have more evidence for Jesus than any other figure around the turn of the first century (by /u/Celebreth).
