Temujin thought that Jamuka was conspiring against him and so ran away with as many of his followers as he could gather during the night.
Later, one of Temujins men killed Jamuka's brother, Taichar, over theft of animals. Both Jamuka and Temujin then raised armies and fought a battle at onon river but Temujin was defeated. Many of Temujins remaining followers were captured and boiled alive, a fate which supposedly prevented the victim from entering the afterlife. This set Jamuka and Temujin as life long enemies.
