During WW1 and WW2, were very obese men still conscripted to fight? How were they regarded by others during this time?

I know back then there would be few obese people, most military age men were in sufficient health.

But for the few men who were honestly too obese to be in the trenches and fighting, what would happen to them and how were they treated by others? Treated poorly because their fitness level means they arent as helpful in the war?

Thanks

If you were an American individual conscripted for the First World War and was considered temporarily unfit for duty, you could be sent to a Development Battalion. I've written a longer post on this subject here.
