Currently writing a piece on how changes in technology have changed how war is experienced, specifically the role of aircraft around their first mass deployment as military tools in WWII.

Fleet Tactics and Coastal Combat by Wayne P Hughes goes into some detail about the changes aircraft carriers made to naval combat and its role in warfare in general. While its somewhat tangential to your topic, it may be a worthwhile resource. (And it's been a bit since I read it, so it may apply more directly than I remember.)
