Is French Canadian poverty really just a myth for English Canadian historians? An Anglo friend told me that, while it’s a common narrative in Québec, it’s still just considered a myth or an exaggeration for them. Please enlighten me ? Thanks !

Hello ! I’m mainly interested in poverty in or from Québec, even though anything interests me that’s near the central points of the question : was French Canadian poverty worth of mention, and is it considered a myth in the English speaking world.

And the question, while concerning mainly the English Canadians from the Rest of Canada, can be applied to all English languaged historians of commenters.

EDIT : sorry for the confusion but I made an error in assumption : in Québécois culture and history, we mostly say French Canadian for pre-Quiet Revolution !

I’m still interested for informations afterward but I’m mostly interested in anything predating this social change. Thanks a lot and sorry !
