I’ve just finished watching “The Patriot” for what seems like the 20th time and I found myself wondering what happened to those loyal to the British Crown after the US won independence after the war. I’ve heard about the statistic that 20% were patriots (of whom 3% actually took up arms), 20% were loyalists, and the remaining colonists were neutral. I am also aware that were probably regional differences in how they were treated. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It’s also interesting to note that I went to school in South Carolina and would regularly go shooting near Camden which was one of the major battles in the Southern Colonies and featured, along with Charleston, in the film.
