Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
I’m here early today!
Welcome to another edition of the Sunday Digest. Reddit’s finest collection of history threads that I participate in. Clearly a mark of quality there. I’ve got a nice hoard of posts I’ve collected over the past week, so have a browse through them and find something that interests you. From medieval meals to the Buddha’s weight gain, there’s something for everyone!
As always, check out the weekly features! There’s a new podcast and AMA as well!
Looking for something to listen to while hard at work? Why not check out AskHistorians Podcast 134 - The Adjunctification of Academic Life w/Professor Daniel Bessner?
This weeks AMA was Persian Past and Iranian Present with the great /u/CardiffUni!
Don’t forget to drop in to Tuesday Trivia: Awesome Archaeology! This thread has relaxed standards—we invite everyone to participate! To see all kinds of exciting stories!
The Thursday Reading & Recommendations thread Was pretty popular this week.
The Friday Free For All was bangin this week. I particularly liked the impromptu Latin discussion and /u/Itsallfolklore’s witty titles! (And the post. It was pretty great to.)
The always great Saturday Showcase!
I should feel bad about this, but my whole role here is shilling great threads so no one can stop me from posting META: Let's Take a Moment to Thank the Mod Team
One thing that was mentioned in that thread was community members asking how they can help, especially if they can’t contribute with answers. So I want to take a moment here to point there’s lots of ways that YOU (yes you!) can participate in this fantastic sub. Report bad comments, and try not to leave jokey ones of your own, is a huge help! Don’t forget to upvote, ask some follow up questions, or otherwise just show your love for the answers you like. Or you can take a leaf out of my own book and start posting to the Sunday Digest! Save those links you loved and share them hear. Not only for others to see, but so that the posters see how much you liked their stuff!
So that’s my shout out to all you community members!
3 days late and hopefully 0 Thalers short I answer this question about the branding of Medieval armour.
