Considering the numerous and very brutal aztec sacrifices done on top of their pyramids, how did they prevent or deal with the massive infections and diseases caused by so much blood drained through the city and into the surrounding lake Texcoco, considering 200k inhabitants?

Regarding the number of Aztec sacrifices, a week ago there was a popular thread on this very subject : https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/ba2nwf/is_there_a_reason_why_aztec_mythology_is_so_in

One of the main takeaways I got from that thread is that Aztec sacrifices were much less numerous than I previously believed.
