Are you serious. Listen I'll spell this out for the denser inhabitants of this space.

It's impossible to discuss history without mentioning race bigotry or offensive behavior.

This is simply an ad hoc reason to ban anyone you disagree with.

When people look back at the monumental amount of energy poured into the American Academy and the mountains worthless scholarship it produced. They'll use moronic statements like this "1. Be Nice: No Racism, Bigotry, or Offensive Behavior." to demonstrate how similar 21st century academics are to the cloistered world of 12th century Catholic cardinals.

Just go on record saying you despise free speech and are uninterested in scholarship. The Vatican was at least honest in claiming a direct connection to god and a divine right.

What's your delusional excuse?

Hi there -- the rule exists to promote civil discourse. We don't ban mentions of race, we ban racism. We don't ban discussions of uncivil behavior, we ban uncivil behavior.

The rule says:

All users are expected to behave with courtesy and politeness at all times. We will not tolerate racism, sexism, or any other forms of bigotry. This includes Holocaust denialism. Nor will we accept personal insults of any kind.

In case you are unsure of the difference, race is a social construct. Racism is treating people differently based on race.

What's your delusional excuse?

You are quite welcome to read the rules roundtable on civility here. If you find that anything is unclear or you have further questions after that, you are welcome to air those in this thread.

Thanks!

If you're worried about our user base being coddled by modern academia, and being unable to handle offensive thoughts - don't be. Many of us are thinking a few of our own right now; we're just not sharing them because we're capable of reading and understanding the forum rules.
