How did crusaders keep cool?

by GlutenFreeGluten99

In my conceptualization of the crusades, going from relatively temperate France and Britain into the Middle East, having never experienced climates that arid before, must have been a very uncomfortable experience for European crusaders, especially considering their wearing of full maille and all the underclothes that went along with their armor. So what I’m wondering is if we have any sources which address what crusaders’ reactions were to experiencing high temperatures of the Middle East, and what they did to keep cool under all their armor.
