For a while now I've been interested in finding a (at least semi-; I don't mind academic writing but ultimately I'm not an historian) popular biography of Clodius Pulcher. Is anyone aware of one? On AskHistorians I've only really found /u/XenophonTheAthenian 's excellent thread at https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/4eyvo3/how_influential_was_publius_clodius_pulcher/ which does give me hope they might have some pointers. (Or fancy a thesis swap since theirs does sound rather interesting. Mine's on primordial magnetic fields in cosmology and I promise it's an awesome read and not riddled with equations. I have, alas, been known to lie on occasion.)
I have found Tatum's biography of course, and if anyone would recommend it I can get the eBook -- I'm asking mainly because I'd much rather something in hard copy that doesn't cost over £50 second-hand, £20 for an eBook is itself on the steep side (though it'd be fine for hard copy), and also because the reviews of it on Amazon, at least, make it seem a bit on the dry side. Though I'm well aware that following Amazon reviews stands partway down a steep slope to madness and despair...
Any suggestions anyone has will be gratefully received :)

Patrician Tribune is pretty much it. There's an article on Clodius by Gruen entitled "P. Clodius: Instrument or Independent Agent" from back in 1966 that established that Clodius was probably acting mostly independently and that only on the relatively infrequent occasions when his plans lined up with those of the triumvirs did he cooperate with them. That article is the basis for Tatum's interpretation of Clodius, but Tatum says a lot more, and makes a lot more arguments that I'm significantly less on board with. But that's pretty much it. And there's certainly nothing like Goldsworthy's biographies, which aren't really especially scholarly--Tatum's work is a scholarly treatment of Clodius, even if I find it severely lacking in many important places.
