Why didn't Germany experience a culture and ethnic clash following the fall of the Berlin wall, following decades of isolation and political influence from both superpowers?

They were the same ethnicity, German nationals who speak German who share the same appearance, surnames, great grandparents, a common history, similar work ethic and books.

It was like a magnetic attraction rather than a clash. East Germany represented a political and humanitarian positivity, and major economic opportunity for the West. The East wanted to re-unify with the West after 43 years of austerity.
