WWII Half Track Drivers

by recraider

Anyone have any idea what kind of side/long arm might have been issued to WWII half track drivers? Specifically in North Africa?

I would think M1 Carbines and maybe 1911's but I'd like to hear the opinions of people that may have studies this.

Thank you all for your help.

Looking at Table of Organization and Equipment No. 2-27, RIFLE COMPANY, ARMORED INFANTRY BATTALION, the drivers are all authorized a "gun, submachine, cal. .45". This is also true for the rest of the battalion's half-track drivers.

So, the drivers would either have an M1/M1A1 Thompson, or an M3 Grease Gun.
