Japanese soldiers encountering giants during WWII on the Solomon Islands?

On /r/Humanoidencounters I saw a post about Japanese soldiers encountering giants during WWII on the Solomon Islands. The source given for the post was a rather dubious website, which itself cited no sources. Another source of this claim is the book Solomon Island Mysteries, which also looks pretty unreliable. However, these sources claim that accounts of giants appear in journals of Japanese soldiers during WWII. Where can I read such journals, and has anyone heard of such claims in a WWII era journal?

Giants are a frequently recurring myth/conspiracy theory around the world. From the nephilim to the red hair giants of patagonia or the giants in the mounds of pre-columbian america and like all these myths/conspiracy theories there are a few common themes:

- There is never any reliable first hand information.

- Lots of anecdotal evidence.

- Someone is working to hide the real evidence, usually it's the [illuminati, jeeeews, lizard people, rothschilds (that's the jeeeews again), nazis who secretly survived ww2, new world order, freemasons, group you want to suspect] who are doing this for unknown reasons.

- Despite giants being rather fucking hard to hide, people have somehow managed and despite the myth being at least 500 years old, no one has ever broken the code of secrecy surrounding 12 ft tall men/skeletons.

The more something is researched, revealed to be a hoax, debunked or otherwise proven impossible, the more new myth arrive. "Sure, the skeletons in the smithonian basement were a hoax and the patagonian giants turned out to be 6 ft tall, not 12 but these giants in the Solomon islands are the real deal for sure..."

I am not inclined to invest a lot of time debunking this specific appearance of giants because everytime it is done, another 10 myths are invented simply because claiming something without any evidence is quick. Debunking it is time consuming and boring. There are, to my knowledge, precisely zero mentions of giants in the solomon islands in japanese war correspondance and there is no reason what so ever to believe there are or ever have been giants in the solomon islands or anywhere else in the world. Unless any of that changes, there is no reason to devote time and energy to the question.

If you want to read these journals you will propably have to go to Japanese archives. A lot of journals end up there in my experience. However that does mean you will have to read them in Japanese as these are generally not translated. Also getting into the archives can be pretty difficult if you are not from that country, or have a relevant research project. If you have that all figured out you will then have to go through all these journals to find those that actually mention the giants.

So possible to read these journals? Yeah but it propably won't be easy.
