I just saw a documentary about the former Nazi regime. What struck me was that some people didn't want to be a Nazi at all, or altogether, it seemed to me.
So my question is: Were all Nazi's Hitler fanatics? Did they all agree with Hitler's right-wing thoughts?
/u/Astrogator discussed whether all members of the Wehrmacht should be called Nazis. /u/commiespaceinvader has talked about the dirtiness of the Wehrmacht. Members of the Wehrmacht were also expected to pledge personal loyalty to Adolf Hitler, so there's that to think about. See Richard Evans' The Third Reich at War(2008).
CommieSpaceInvader also described the enthusiasm of German Gentiles/gadje for antisemitism in the Third Reich before 1939.
Only Hitler knew Hitler's thoughts (in his heart of hearts) but worrying about Hitler's individual thoughts is not really helpful.. See also what Hitler thought of Albert Einstein, for example, according to /u/Georgy_K_Zhukov.
