Could 100 men successfully defend against 500 men in a seige of a small fort? (Medieval context)

I doubt this as much a question for historians as much as it is for experts in combat techniques. Could a trained and well armed soldier take down 5 poorly trained farmers carrying pitchforks trying to siege a fort? Maybe.

It all likely comes down to how well trained and what sort of armaments each side had.

It's plausible but it would likely be too much speculation involved in determining an approximate maximum imbalance.
