From "Fallout: A post nuclear RPG" to "the Simpsons", the association between nuclear waste and the colour green is pretty ubiquitous in western popular culture. Where does this connection come from, and why has it become so powerful?
See my answer here. The short version is: radium was the first exposure (so to speak) that the public had to radioactivity, and it has a pale green color. It basically "stuck." Separately, uranium can be quite green, especially in commercialized forms (e.g. uranium glass). But nuclear waste is not green (if anything, it should be associated with blue, the color of Cherenkov radiation).
