like mounted guns aimed at the ground on zeppelins, etc (not for anti air purposes)
For specifically airships, I have no knowledge of this having been done and I'd imagine that artillery and its ammunition was far too heavy and impractical compared to bombs to consider it. Airships were fitted with machine guns and bombs, but they were quickly found to be very large, slow, vulnerable targets to fighters (and anti-aircraft guns if low enough).
After World War I they essentially ceased to be used as armed weapons of war. Fixed-wing aircraft advanced to the point where an operation like bombing Britain in World War II could be done with planes instead.
