The NFU policy (Non First Use) states that it will not use nuclear weapons first. Does this mean that, if the USA had declared war on China, that it won’t launch a nuclear strike until the US does or that it will launch a first strike because the US declared war? I know the chances are almost 0% chance of a war between nuclear powers but the thought just came into my head. Thanks!
In the case of the NFU I am not aware if China also has a similar policy but it means the US will never launch nuclear weapons in a first strike situation only in retaliation from a hostile strike on American soil ( this includes American vessels, bases, embassies, ect that have some relation to the US government).
