Is it true that part of why it was called "The Dark Ages" was because it was actually always dark due to climate change?
I must say that is a theory I've literally never heard before. It's worth noting that the 'Dark Ages' is nomenclature coined several centuries after the Early Medieval Period, and was certainly not used at the time.
As far as I'm aware, no contemporary historical source makes any mention of long periods of extended darkness, of shorter days, or really any disruption beyond eclipses of the day-night cycle.
