Identification of WW2 military ribbons.

by Kiwimaster76

So before I get flagged for asking about military identification I have already gone through every part of the guide provided and found nothing as well as spend more than an hour trying to find this myself, all to no avail.

My great grandfather was a soldier in the 95th infantry division ("Iron men of Metz") and served for many years, eventually becoming a Brigadier General in the 60's. Fast forward to a month ago and my grandfather, his son, passed away and left his fathers military awards to us. Out of curiosity I have been spending several hours today identifying the ribbons and medals and have figured out all but 2 of them. So I'm putting this out there in hopes somebody knows what these are.

If the pictures are not good enough to tell, the first ribbon has a central stripe of blue with thin red stripes on each side of it and either white or cream colored thick edges, The second ribbon is structured the same but has a purple central stripe with thin gold stripes either side and white or cream thick edges.

Thank you to everyone willing to try to help.

Hello there! As your question is related to looking for identification/information regarding military personnel, our Guide on Military Identification may be of use to you. It provides a number of different resources, including how to request service records from a number of national agencies around the world, as well as graphical aids to assist in deciphering rank, unit, and other forms of badges or insignia. While the users here may still be able to lend you more assistance, hopefully this will provide a good place to start!
