Tips for researching personal project

by onthebayou-1

Hi all,

I bought a book at a antique sale and I've been obsessed with researching the artist who made it for months now. However, I'm hitting a dead end. This is my blog - https://eccentricscrapbooker.art.blog/

Recently I've ran out of options for researching the artist herself so I've been researching the images from the book - lots of medical supplies branding and trademarks from around the 1900s.

If anyone can think of any new routes to take for research I'd love some ideas!

You might have better luck resubmitting this question with a more specific title.

That said, I do know of one potential resource: TMview is a free search engine for trademark records, and now includes visual search for some EU offices including Great Britain. I can't testify to how great the visual search is (I suspect you'd get better results with higher contrast to match the registered line drawings for a start), but the regular search can certainly help where there is text to go on. For instance, that Nottingham Castle one seems to be an older variation on a British American Tobacco Company trademark. And the J.J.C. one with the black cat is another of their cigarette trademarks.
