Simon Bolivar was a leading political and military leader in the wars for south American independence, he's most famous for creating "Gran colombia", a state that comprised of the modern day countries of Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, and Panama, Gran Colombia fell apart shortly before Bolivar died, also because all the countries he liberated were under the Spanish Crown, he obviously had a bit of an uphill battle, in addition to Liberating gran colombia, he also led campaigns into Bolivia (Guess who they got their name from!) and Peru, essentially, he's famous for kicking the Spanish out of northern south america.
