I know that the Vatican is its own city-state, but being completely encircled my Mussolini's fascist regime at the time, I assumed they would be under their control. I don't remember hearing much history about WWII that mentioned the Pope or the Vatican and what role they played, if any, during the war. I appreciate any info.
