What are some books with first-hand accounts of Germany's slide into concentration camps?

by boundbythecurve

I want to hear from German citizens what it was like living through the rise of Hitler's power, and how they (or others) justified or ignored the development of the concentration camps. I also want a better understanding of the steps that lead to the gas chambers.

Victor Klemperer's diary - I Will Bear Witness:

Richard Evans' Coming of the Third Reich is also a must read for a good understanding of how the Nazis took power.
