There is a claim from the busongora and chwezi ethnic group that they descended from an empire that had control over southern Africa to the South Atlantic coast, Eastern Africa to the southern borders of Axum and parts of Central Africa, it seems like Nationalist/Ethnic/Tribal propaganda much like the Lechina Empire and i was wondering if there was any basis to this, a series of ethnically related kingdoms, a language group, Sketchy old records jumbled together in a way to produce the most exaggerated account possible, a foundation myth for busongora-chwezi peoples and states for their origin? Or maybe Just maybe an actual state that has been exaggerated a bit
Edit;- I also saw a claim that they controlled most or all of the East African Coast

I have never heard of the Shenzi empire before, but it sounds a lot like the claims made about the Kitara Empire in this thread.
Kitara empire is also associated with the Chwezi people. My answer here is the same as in the other thread. There were historical Kitara, Bunyoro and Chwezi kingdoms in the middle ages and early modern era. The geographic extent was a little bit larger than modern Uganda, according to Aderinto and Schoenbrun.
Scholars say nothing about a massive medieval empire that stretched from Kenya to South Africa. This seems like an obvious case of either nationalist or afrocentrist pseudohistory pumping up a massive "lost kingdom".
