They have been weighed in the balance and been found wanting by the Persians Mods.

Answers in the subreddit are expected to be in-depth and comprehensive, as laid out in the subreddit rules. There is no hard and fast definition of that, but in evaluating what a user knows on the topic, and what they are planning to post, we ask that they consider whether their answer will demonstrate these four qualities to a reader:

• Do I have the expertise needed to answer this question?
• Have I done research on this question?
• Can I cite academic quality primary and secondary sources?
• Can I answer follow-up questions?

In the simplest terms, the large sections of [removed] are because many users, for whatever reason, don't abide by that, and we remove all comments which don't meet the rules/standards here.

If you are interested in a deeper exploration of the philosophy behind the subreddit, we would encourage you to check out the META section of the subreddit’s FAQ, which includes a section of particular interest for you, as it highlights what kind of comments generally end up removed.

For an improved browsing experience, we would also encourage you to check out the feature on ‘Subscriptions and Reminders’.
