How reliable is Grover Furr? Also asking for fact-check on an essay

by ShinkuroYukinari

Hey guys,

When asking ML blokes for info on Soviet history(to see why they adore it and all) I often got recommended to check out Grover Furr, so I decided to check out this essay for starters.

https://msuweb.montclair.edu/~furrg/research/mlg09/did_ussr_invade_poland.html

I found it to be quite interesting, but due to these takes being so unusual, I decided to remain on the bench for now.

When looking up on opinions on him I found 3 opinions that are prevalent

  1. Furr is a lying revisionist, seeking to exonerate Stalin
  2. Furr is pretty good, and goes in detail with debunking the old myths on USSR and Stalin
  3. He isn't much of a Historian, he mainly recycles Russian sources for Western Audiences

You can see how awkward this is. Any help with navigating around this would be appreciated!

Not. More of course can be said, but /u/international_kb covers a number of points in their older answer here.
