I'm not sure if this belongs here and please feel free to let me know if it doesn't!
I'm a current nursing student and want to be a historian and make a career change. I wanted to ask you guys, what jobs can you get. The history studies I'm interested is mainly royal history; particularly Russian royal history.
An important piece of the picture is in which country this person lives. Also, whether or not temporary or permanent relocation is an option (this can end up being a requirement of academic career of any sort, which is probably part of any answer). That said, I am curious about the answer you'll get.
While you wait, this unencouraging pearl by u/sunagainstgold might be a bit out if date but is probably still relevant (sadly):
Ps: also this previous question from a few years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/6267u7/will_i_be_able_to_find_a_job_as_a_historian/
You've already been linked to some really good posts, so I'm going to suggest a few more for you to check out.
/u/JimeDorje had some really good advice in please help me!
Adding on to those thoughts is /u/facepoundr in this other thread about career advice.
Man, it actually feels like I got shot down for my career.. I was planning to be a high school history teacher but with those posts, it does seems very very unlikely and it's pretty logical too unfortunately.
