The go-to popular work is The Horse, the Wheel and Language. Some of the chapters on archaeology get a bit tedious, but it's probanly the most carefully researched and written book ln popular anthropology/archaeology/linguistics I have ever encountered. Very pleasant read overall and very well written.

If you want something that goes in-depth into the linguistic aspects (which is our main source for IE culture), check out Mallory and Adams 2006, The Oxford Introduction to Proto-Indo-European and the Proto-Indo-European World. It's fantastic.
