More specificly, what were the conditions and relations like in American camps during and after WWII. Were there significant differences of treatment depending on where the camp was located?

I've heard a lot about Nazi's camps, Russian ones, but American ones are always remained the mystery to me. Not long time ago I've heard that they weren't much diffrent in terms of cruelty from Russian ones, so not to be uniformed, I'm asking every pleasant soul to help me get some new knowledge, and to help to spread more thruth to the world.
