Can you clarify your question? Do you mean like the situation where England and Scotland had the same king but were distinct states?

I don't think this arrangement is particularly a "Christian" thing, it was a feature of European politics in the Middle Ages and Modern Period, but I don't think everything European is necessarily distinctly Christian, it certainly wasn't a feature of Christian polities in Late Antiquity or the pre-Crusades Middle East or Africa.
