He is considered (in Christianity) to be an author of a couple of biblical books and the builder of God's holy temple, which was considered such, and venerated, regardless of its builder's later behavior (he went on to worship foreign gods at the end of his life according to the Bible).

It is in some occult circles that he is considered to be a summoner of demons (cf. grimoires like the Lesser Key of Solomon; this is paralleled in numerous Judaic and Islamic legends about him and his magical ring - in the latter he summons the Jinn and the Efreet at will). This wasn't, however, an official Church stance and thus not an obstacle.
