The other day on the train I saw a pretty girl, we began talking and getting along, when oh no!, she tells me that Hitler wasn't bad. feelsbadman.jpg
I tried to understand why she thought this, she told me that the holocaust "wasn't that bad" meaning that much less people had died, and that the holocaust hadn't even been organized by Hitler but by "a shadow government".
She also said that Hitler was very fond of muslims which I didn't believe at first but I looked it up and I guess is kinda true, he mentioned once that he wished germany was a muslim country, but still, that's not something to brag about, and yet that's exactly what she was doing
She also had MANY other strange beliefs, I only saw the top of the iceberg. She hated Florence Nightinvale for some reason, and she told me there were muslims nurses long before her. She told me the history of the muslim golden age was being repressed by "the west", I tried to explain her that I had been taught in school how muslim scholars invented algebra, algorithms, how they preserved greek philosophy and many other things, I agreed that history classes could be too eurocentric sometimes, but she insisted that there was a conspiracy to downright erase the achievements of any muslim ever.
It went on and on, those are just the things that stood out the most to me.
What should I do when I meet someone like this?, I feel bad that I had the chance to help someone but I couldn't.
In a spontaneous real life conversation there's a snowball's chance in hell that you would will be able to convince such a person, unless you're familiar both with the Holocaust history and Holocaust denial. They also have their primitive but sometimes obscure talking points ready, so unless you know how to answer them, you might be stumped.
In a written conversation, on the other hand, you might do as follows. First of all, the denial has three main pillars: there was no extermination policy against Jews; no mass murder of Jews took place in homicidal gas chambers, which didn't exist; millions of Jews were not killed.
1 Show them the documents that show that extermination was a state plan and the extermination intent existed.
2 Show them the documents proving mobile and stationary gas chambers.

3 Show them this scholarly demographic country-by-country study establishing the number of the killed Jews as being between 5 and 6 million.

Personally I just mock them but that's just me. Changing the mind of someone with deeply entrenched views like this requires a lot of effort, time and compassion. It's not something that can be done quickly if at all.
