So not quite what you are asking about as they aren't set in Ancient Egypt, but the Amelia Peabody series is about Egyptology in the early 20th century. The author, Elizabeth Peters, is actually nom de plume of the Egyptologist Barbara Mertz neé Gross. And while it certainly doesn't reflect cutting edge scholarship, as she did her academic work back in the '60s before turning to writing fiction and she also is dead at this point, my understanding is that her underlying depth of knowledge is certainly reflected in her prose when you brush away the obvious adjustments made for narrative needs. To be sure, it is supposed to reflect Egyptology in the 1890s-1920s rather than cutting edge, which helps as well, and in any case I've generally heard good things as regards the historical aspects - at least as far as the Egypt stuff goes, can't speak to the Victorian/Edwardian English side of things!
