I always wondered about these conferences. There is often in histories how dangerous Atlantic crossings were in WWII. I presume many of the conferences required crossing or skirting enemy territories/forces.

How was the logistics of travel to and from these conferences? What were the security arrangements to ensure safe passage, as well as safety during the conferences.

Were they secret, or public knowledge? Were they assuming a general safety, or did they presume that these meetings were risky, but simply worth the risk?
