I'm trying to find the original Sumerian word for "hunter" (also translated as "trapper" or "stalker") from Tablet I of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Can anyone provide the original transliteration for this word?
As a heads up, this sort of question is great for the "Short Answers to Simple Questions" thread.
The word is ṣayyādu (written syllabically as ṣa-a-a-du), and it's Akkadian rather than Sumerian. It's derived from the verb ṣâdu, "to prowl, roam."
