Hey all. Does anyone know of a good English language source that goes into detail on the Battle of Route Coloniale 4 during the First Indochina War? A column of 6,000 French troops took nearly 100% casualties from 30,000 Viet Minh regulars, and I can't find anything.

You're going to have a hard time finding sources that particularly focus on RC4, but most serious, in-depth studies of the French Indochina War usually includes a section on it. In my mind, Martin Windrow's The Last Valley (2014) is a great place to start. Although focusing on the battle of Dien Bien Phu, it practically covers the entire war and contextualizes RC4 in a very engaging manner.
