This is simply wrong. Some statistics will immediately prove this claim to be entirely false.
#No. of films produced: The USA is in 4th place with 660 films produced in 2017. 1st place is India with 1,813 films; then Nigeria with 997 films; and China with 874 films. Japan is a close 5th place with 613 films.
#Box office revenues (USD): Hollywood produced films are indeed in first place, with $21.1B in 2018. China is not that far behind with $10B.

Superman is the best selling series in the USA, averaging 7.41M copies a year. This is nothing compared to Japan, which has One Piece (20.64M), Naruto (16.67M) and Black Jack (20.00M).
