I am unsure if this post fits this subreddit:
I have been digging around and collecting various maps of the Holy Roman Empire. It’s frustrating to me to see maps that just say “small states” or “Holy Roman Empire” instead of the various entities within it. I understand that the Holy Roman Empire was very messy and convoluted, but I am seeking as detailed a map as possible. Where can I find maps of the Holy Roman Empire that go beneath the surface and show a great amount of detail?
Did you come across this website? I'm not sure what era you're interested in or I'd link directly, but, it looks like a lot of these (and you can zoom in pretty far by clicking, definitely far enough to read) go all the way down to the detail you want.
I had good luck with all the ones I checked from Droysens Allgemeiner Historischer Handatlas.
These'll be the German names, which sometimes might differ from what we say in English. But if you can't figure it out yourself, try looking it up on de.wikipedia.org (German Wiki), then going over to the left column/menu column site and (as long as it exists) clicking on the "English" option.
