The site it was dug up from dates to before 1875, based on the fact the hotel was no longer listed on the map from that time.

Someone commented that they were used as a sort of Black Hills gold expedition lottery, but I can't find any solid information. There were other civil war era bottles found along with these.

I appreciate any insight I can get!
