I ask this because I can't imagine there was a lot of work in that sector between the wars.
In Canada, several notable fighter pilots such as Mae West became bush pilots, ferrying mail and packages to far-flung settlements in a matter of hours or days rather than the weeks or months it had taken prior to the development of the aircraft. As I gather this was a pretty common opportunity for returning pilots, along with the just-budding development of civilian air travel, where experienced pilots were in demand.
