Actually from two weeks ago but How did hero worship of Ayrton Senna compare/contrast to other national heroes of Brazil and contemporary international sports champions? Any good estimates of the attendance of his funeral procession and viewing?
When Senna died, the Brazilian government declared three days of mourning and gave him a state funeral, with a Brazilian airline transporting the body from Italy in an airplane's cabin. Attendance numbers vary but none are small.
