Because of the tensions between Iran and the American dominated world; and historically bad relations between US and Iran from 79 and now, I am sensitive to American and Israeli (abit of Iranian) bias when studying the domestic and foreign policy of Iran.
I would like if anyone can recommend ang good Iranian sources of foreign policy and domestic politics (historical or current) which are translated from Farsi, or also good English sources that give a decently accurate and insightful political history of Contemporary Iran.

I liked Michael Axworthy, Revolutionary Iran : A History of the Islamic Republic, Penguin, now in a revised edition, 2019. The negative criticism that I've seen has been that (a) it's too pro-Iranian, (b) it focusses too much on politics and governments rather than ordinary Iranians and their experience, (c) it doesn't make enough use of Iranian archival sources and interviews, and (d) it spends too much time on the Iran-Iraq War. (a) and (b) suggest that it's a good unbiased political history such as you seek. As for (d), the war was a key event in the development of the Islamic Republic, and elements of it that Axworthy pays a lot of attention to, such as the role of pre-Revolution experts (e.g., pilots and technicians in the air force), tell a story about the evolution of the Republic.
Overall, an excellent book on the topic, and likely the best English-language book currently available. Well deserves its favourable reviews, including those in the academic journals, and magazines and newspapers, and those by the general reader.
