I recently watched this video Misunderstood Moments in History - The Spartan Myth. The video had cited numerous sources, however, it seemed some people will still displeased with it, calling it over the top, and saying how it is false. I was wondering if the video and its sources were true about the "Spartan Myth".
From many posts and several podcast appearances by u/Iphikrates it's possible to conclude that at their peak the Spartans fielded a half-trained militia in a world of untrained militias - which is a real advantage - but were not inhumanly disciplined supersoldiers who oriented their entire society around military effectiveness.
