Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
We’re slowly coming up to the spookiest time of year! I know that finding to many unanswered questions can be scary, so fortify yourself with this glorious collection of history answers. Stalk the web no more, for we have such well written answers that even Michael Myers would put his machete down and go “Neat.” But, like in a spooky voice or something.
Also I’m pretty sure this is one of the earliest I’ve ever gotten the digest up. Huzzah for me!
Anyways, sleep deprivation aside, lets get on to the business at hand! Upvote your favorite threads, don’t forget to thank the authors, and check out our weekly and special features!
Big news! There’s a new podcast out! AskHistorians Episode 141 - The Sexual (Mis)Education of America and Sweden, with Saniya Lee Ghanoui.
There was also an absolutely fantastic thread here. 500 Years Later - Colonization of the Americas Panel AMA! With tons of contributors and just so many interesting posts.
And a special META bot to discuss our very special Summarybot! Tired of clicking over to a thread too early so it isn't answered yet? Do you want great AskHistorians content delivered right to you instead? Then try out the the subredditsummarybot's excellent subscription feature!
The Thursday Reading and Recommendations.
The Friday Free For All had fun, laughter, Sun-shine and summary bots!
Saturday Showcase continues to feature the amazing /u/Klesk_vs_Xaero.
That’s the end of it for me! It was a quieter week, but I was also fairly busy, so if I missed something post it up for all to see! All of us are always looking for more to read. Have yourselves a great week, and I’ll see you next Sunday.
Spend some time to shout out those interesting yet overlooked questions which still cry out for an answer. Here’s just a handful of those I noticed during my usual internet wanderings. /u/ PablomentFanquedelic asked aboutEunuchs in the pre-Assyrian Middle East and Egypt?
/u/ProfSwagstaff asked Did the RNC do anything to clean house after Nixon's impeachment and resignation?
Mr Speaker! /u/emmazunz84 wants to know Has the House of Commons always been rowdy?
Loved the podcast this week! What an interesting topic and Saniya was a joy to listen to!
