First off, that link is incorrect. There are not 500,000 Spanish speakers in the Philippines. Not even close to that number, I would estimate. Rather, there are around 800,000 speakers of Chabacano, which is a creole based in Spanish, Tagalog, and a couple other Philippine languages besides Tagalog. Chabacano is NOT Spanish and is NOT mutually intelligible with Spanish.
