This is pretty far outside of my specialty, but actually physically very close to me! Jumbo died not far away in St. Thomas, Ontario, where there's a big statue of him, which is, honestly, the coolest thing there is to see in St. Thomas (one of their slogans is "25% more life", and I don't know what that means, but at least it has 100% more kick-ass giant elephant statues than anywhere else around here).

There are a few shorter books and pamphlets, but the best historical work, properly speaking, is:

Paul Chambers, Jumbo: The Greatest Elephant in the World (Steerforth Press, 2008).

You can also check out Jumbo's page on the St. Thomas tourism website, which lists a few other works. Chambers' book is the best one though.

What are some good books about Jumbo The Elephant? Is there one that's considered the authoritative story? I'd love to learn as much as possible about the creature, especially the events surrounding its death.
