The two best resources for getting a better sense of Lyon's worldview are probably Mary Lyon: Documents and Writings by Hartley and Mary Lyon Through Her Letters by Marion Lansing. The second book was compiled in 1937 so it may be hard to find. The first one is less than $3 on Google Books and gives you a pretty good sense of where she was coming from.
